A £870 million acquisition of holdings from Ferrovial, CDPQ, and USS has elevated Ardian’s stake in Heathrow Airport to more than 30 percent. This consolidation follows a larger £3.3 billion deal struck alongside Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, collectively reorganizing the ownership of one of the world’s critical transport nodes. Ardian’s increased position comes with an explicit endorsement of Heathrow’s expansion, as the private equity group insists that its portfolio companies maintain clear growth trajectories.
While Ardian expands its infrastructure footprint, its healthcare interests face regulatory scrutiny. Bank accounts belonging to Santé Cie, a healthcare group owned by Ardian, were recently seized as part of an investigation into dealings with healthcare professionals. This pressure in the European healthcare sector stands in contrast to Ardian’s aggressive expansion in the technology and energy sectors, which includes a €5 billion investment in an AI data center outside Paris and the €2.5 billion purchase of Irish utility Energia. The firm’s ability to manage these legal complexities while deploying a record $30 billion fund will test its internal leadership during a period of transition for its founding team.
